On Display: Beyond the Barrel and Emerging Artists
July 13-August 25, 2019

Beyond the Barrel is an annual exhibit in it’s 16th year at the NACC. Every year creative people and visitors from throughout WNY join us for this celebration of our region’s artists and their works. This year, we opened up this exhibit to artists of all backgrounds and skill levels in hopes of curating an exhibit that reflects the true talent and creativity of our local artists. The suggested theme of this year’s exhibit was “Power”, centering on the City of Niagara Falls legacy as the “Power City” and our history of attracting inventors, creators, and innovators. We asked artists to harness this creative spirit and interpret the word “Power” through their works, many of the pieces on display will offer variable interpretations of this theme, we encourage you to read the artistic statement provided by some of the artists.

This year we are also ecstatic to bring you our first ever Emerging Artists Exhibit. This exhibit was created in an effort to encourage artists to exhibit with the NACC through an accessible exhibition that celebrates new and returning artists. The response was so tremendous we actually decided to extend the exhibit to be featured in both galleries, so you will find works from the Emerging Artists Exhibit on both the 1st and 2nd floors of the NACC in the Townsend and Garden Galleries. Borrowing from the theme of Beyond the Barrel, artists participating in this exhibit we asked to submit innovative and experimental works. Thus, you will see nontraditional styles, mediums, and technologies on display in this Exhibit. We hope to expand upon this exhibit in years to come!

Our exhibits are open every day during NACC hours. The galleries are free and open to the public.
