NACC Exhibit Curator Ray Robertson in Partnership with the WNY Urban Arts Collective invites artists of all ages and backgrounds to participate in Artists of Color: 10th Anniversary, an annual exhibit is envisioned as a comprehensive representation of the African American experience from the historical, contemporary and personal perspective.  This year’s special anniversary looks back on the last 10 years of this exhibit and celebrates the collective work by African American Artists in Western New York in new works and works that will return to the NACC for this anniversary show. All visual art genres and mediums – two-dimensional and three-dimensional – are eligible for entry to this show, which will award a 1st, 2nd and 3rd prize for overall composition and artistry.

WNY Urban Arts Collective is an organization created to address the need to recognize, develop, educate, support and promote the professional development for visual artists of diverse backgrounds.

Quick Facts

Deadline: January 27, 2019, 5 PM – artwork must be delivered to the NACC with completed entry paperwork and the exhibit fee.

Exhibit Fee: $30 for the first two pieces and $10 for up to two (2) additional pieces. (Four (4) piece maximum). Entry fees can be paid with cash, or by check or money order made payable to Niagara Arts and Cultural Center and mailed to:  NACC, 1201 Pine Avenue, Niagara Falls, NY  14301.

Reception: 2019 Artists of Color Exhibition opens on Saturday, February 9th from 5 – 7 PM, with an Artists’ Reception Awards will be presented at approximately 6 p.m. This opening is part of the NACC’s SECOND SATURDAYS Programming Series.

Awards: Monetary awards sent via check after the opening reception.

Pick Up: Art must be picked up March 4 – 25th, the NACC is not responsible for artworks that remain in our space after March 26th, artworks may be discarded or donated.

Artists of Color: Freedom: 2019 Artists of Color Exhibition also features the following program:

  • The Heritage Gallery: Freedom Crossing Exhibit – Permanent Exhibit featuring Underground Railroad history in Niagara Falls. Open daily, M-F 9-5 and S-S 12-4. Admission: Suggested Donation of $2.

    Gallery Policy:

    The NACC Gallery Committee reserves the right to refuse artworks for any reason - specifically artworks that do not follow exhibition guidelines, including but not limited to artworks that do not pertain to the exhibition theme and requirements or have been found unfitting of the intent of the exhibition or the NACC's visitor/family friendly gallery spaces.

    Release of Liability:

    The Artist agrees to exhibit artwork at the NACC at his/her own risk.

    Utmost care will be given to all works received; however, neither the NACC nor its members, sponsors, employees or building owner assume any responsibility for loss or damage from any cause whatsoever.

    Please be advised: Artwork will not be displayed without your agreement to these conditions. No refunds will be offered for artworks not displayed because this form was not completed correctly. However even without the Release of Liability, the NACC is not responsible for any loss or damage to artworks from the time it is delivered to the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center until the time it is retrieved from the Niagara Arts & Cultural Center. The NACC does not offer insurance for artworks for any reason. Artists are expected to insure their own works.

    Submission of artwork to be shown in the NACC shall imply agreement of the artist to the above release form.
