Featured Art by : Joan Shaw
OPENING RECEPTION : Aug 12th 6-8pm
The French term, “En Plein Air” evokes the image of the skillful, dedicated artists who craft their works outside of their studios, with their box easels and briefcases full of paints and brushes, capped with very sensible hats as they sit in the shade of trees or large umbrellas on a warm, sunny day. On the canvas, the plein air artists carefully replicate the majesty of nature, the architecture of everyday life, and the resplendent color and ephemeral lighting of the landscape before them – whether it be lush countryside, a Sunday in the park, or crowded cobbled city-street. The practice of painting outdoors is a long celebrated tradition; such painters as Claude Monet, Camille Pissarro, Berthe Morisot, Pierre-Auguste Renoir, Marie Cassatt, The Group of Seven, & Robert William Wood dedicated many hours in the field to produce exquisite “en plein air” artworks.
Painter, Poet, Stained Glass artist, jewelry designer: Connie has been an artist since she picked up her first periwinkle Crayola.
Connie is uniquely tuned into life and it shows in her art. Whether it be in the wonders of nature, the nuance of a child’s smile, or the promise of vibrant colors in a spring day.
Her vibrant and joyous art can be called “Semi-Realism”, however she does not like to limit her self with classifications!
Instead Connie lets inspiration guide her art and hopes you share her journey.
SOLO EXHIBIT : Aug 12 - Sept 10th, 2016
